Meet Lindsey

In 2017, my husband Brandon and I, along with our two boys, sold everything, left Florida where we had resided for 12 years and we hit the road.  For 6 years we travelled full-time in our fifth wheel, exploring the country, seeing the sites and meeting people that will forever be lifelong friends.  While we were so thankful for this lifestyle and had no set plans to stay put anytime soon, sometimes God has other plans.  When my husband got a once-in-a-lifetime offer for to be a supervisor at Michigan Sugar and after prayer and a lot of discussion, we knew that this opportunity was not one that we could ignore.  We had to explore this new adventure that had been placed in our path.  That brings us back to Sanilac County... back where it all began.  Where I graduated high school.  Where I met the love of my life 23 years ago.  Where we have family and friends that we are excited to be able to re-connect with.

While on the road, I accidentally fell into Watercolor painting and really fell in love with it.  After years of practice and painting for friends and family, I launched my on-the-road Etsy shop during Covid and it has been really incredible.  As my love of painting grew, so did my interest in other mediums.  Acrylic was FUN and I could easily incorporate it into homeschooling with my boys.  I started doing online tutorials and teaching myself techniques and eventually began instructing friends.  Then I was asked to do a painting class for a local school fundraiser and I jumped in and went for it.  It was a huge success and I was HOOKED.  While in Maine visiting our favorite campground for the Summer, I taught several more classes.  Then I received a call from the Sanilac Career Center, asking me if I could start classes in the Fall.  Although this was all new to me, it felt so right and I didn't even hesitate.  All of this, plus several inquires to do private paint parties, I knew it was time to launch The Artful Village.  This is just the beginning and I can't wait to continue to grow through this amazing community of super fun, fabulous budding artists.... just like me.  Thank you for joining me on this journey and I look forward to creating with YOU.
